Donation to CURE Ethiopia Children's Hospital
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, September 2009

"Thank you very much for the lovely photographs! Both the staff and patients are enjoying them. Many of our hospital staff have asked me to hang one of the photos in their office, but we have restricted them to where the children spend time. The pictures add to the child friendly atmosphere that we want to display. Again, thank you for your generosity to our hospital. The write up about your organization is being translated into Amharic so that our patients and their families can appreciate all that you are doing around the world."

Photo Project in Escuela de niñas Leonor Rosales Viuda de Ramirez school clinic.
Santa Maria de Jesus, Guatemala, September 2009

"These pictures are at the school clinic in the town called Santa Maria de Jesus (SMJ). SMJ is 99% indigenous, and we are working in ALL girl schools, which is a big improvement in a town were girls are still neglected from society! They are a total of 793 girls in the school from 5 to 13 years old, they are the most beautiful and loving girls in the world. As part of Guatemala SANA www.guatemalasana.org we installed the school clinic, hired the nurse and put all the supplies needed. We are also teaching classes to the students, teachers and mothers. We put a stove, water filter and a refrigerator at the clinic, we started a nutrition program, now the girls are receiving one full meal at the school. We fixed the bathroom and put a water deposit in the school..... So we are doing a lot! This is the town were we will build the 11 bed clinic! I'm sure the photos do say more than I can. Again thank you very much, and please THANK all the photographers on our behalf!"

Donation to Grace Hill
St. Louis, MO, July 2008

“The photographs donated to Grace Hill by Healing Photo Arts and Elaine Poggi have made such a difference in the appearance of our dental and social services departments. Elaine understands the deep rooted connection between Mind and Body and her breathtaking photographs have transformed many of our drab walls and made our patient ‘waiting’ experience more pleasant. Over 90% of Grace Hill’s patients live below 100% of the poverty level and survival is a daily struggle. Our patients come to us troubled and in pain, and we are so grateful at this opportunity to provide services in the serene and beautiful atmosphere created by these photographs.  We are grateful to Healing Photo Arts and Elaine Poggi for this wonderful gift to Grace Hill.”

Villie M. Appoo, Executive Vice President

“The social services waiting room has been completely transformed by the photographs donated by Healing Photo Arts and I have heard so many positive comments from our patients. One of our counselors came to work the day after we had hung up these photographs. He walked into his office, then immediately walked out again with a puzzled look on his face, stating that “this place looks different”.  We love how these photographs have transformed our work space.”

Veronica Richardson, Director of Quality Improvement

High school students from The Overlake School in Redmond, Washington
arranged to have photographs placed in the Pailin Hospital in Cambodia.
Pailin, Cambodia, April 2008

“In April 2008, students from the Overlake School in Redmond, Washington travelled to Pailin, Cambodia, to teach at an elementary school the Overlake community had built in 2003. While in Pailin, students also installed 10 photographs by Elaine Poggi of the Foundation for Photo/Art in Hospitals in the local Pailin hospital. The students toured the various wards, and visited with the Director of the hospital who identified areas in the hospital to hang the pictures. The Pailin hospital project provided them with insight into third world health care. The students were delighted to be able to bring the beautiful photographs to brighten the environment of the hospital.”

Even though I knew about the foundation and how it came about, it really showed how personal it is to you and how it is all about giving! It is wonderful that you can take your gift as a photographer and share it with so many people when they need it the most. It is also wonderful how you were able use your experience of losing your mother as a way to help others. She would be very proud of you!”
